Sunrise from my bed

I have truly been enjoying my unique stay at Seascape these last weeks. Staying in the master bedroom downstairs I have really enjoyed the new, clearer view windows. Not only do they open and close with ease, but they open wide to provide an unobstructed view. This morning I was blessed with a breathtaking sunrise, without even leaving my bed! I watched as the sun's glow lit the sky, and then as the brilliant sun slowly rose off the water's edge. It was a far cry from what I see from my own house! For a moment I felt energized by the sight, ready to jump up and start the day..... then I rolled over and went back to sleep... the memory of that beautiful sight easing me back to dreams. Ahhhhhh... I will miss this place!

Make your plans now!

Wow, what an amazing Spring it has been at Seascape!  Two days ago we had a high temp of 89 degrees, with sunny skies and breezes that made it seem more like July than April.  Returning tenants will be relieved to know that the Seascape escaped significant damage from the New England storms this year.

While staying at Seascape [as part of my recovery from broken bones and hand surgery] I have enjoyed rediscovering the serenity Seascape provides to its guests. Soon I will go back home and will return Seascape to our tenants for their relaxation and rejuvenation.  I am now busily getting back to those who have left emails and messages during my absence.

We have made many improvements over the winter, including new windows in the downstairs master bedroom, new kitchen floor, new deck furniture, new futon, new washer and dryer, and more.

Given the still sluggish economy we have made the decision to keep our 2009 rates, despite the improvements.  As always there are discounts for longer stays and for returning tenants. Successful referrals can earn even more discounts. We are doing everything we can to maintain the quality of the Seascape home experience and still keep it priced under local hotel options.

In response to tenant interest we are also offering to help families arrange for special events.  Day camp, recreation programs and even qualified babysitters can be arranged to provide activities for children and quiet time or an evening out for Mom or Dad. Sightseeing, professional theater tickets, duck boats, sunset cruises, lobster dinners... whatever your personal delight is, we are happy to help tenants plan the perfect vacation. Whether you are looking for a quiet getaway, busy exploration, oceanside wedding, or artists' retreat....
           Seascape is waiting for you!

Fall Roundup

Summer is gone, even the leaf peepers are dwindling, and fall is fast moving toward winter. The brilliant red leaves of our burning bush plants signal the last burst of fall color and the coming frosts and freezes.

We have made many changes to the Seascape this year. All of the upstairs rooms are now repainted. The downstairs bathroom remodeling is complete. Stage one of the upstairs bath remodeling is done. The new windows for the master bedroom are ordered and will go in late November or December. The new floors and refinished floors continue to look great. We have been very excited to see the evolution and hear the compliments from our summer and fall tenants. We plan to add new pictures to the slide show next month that will give you an updated glimpse.

Seascape is now warm and ready for the winter, ready to welcome tenants eager to enjoy the cozy warmth while looking out at the winter views. Come join us in December for the beautiful holiday lights in downtown Portland and shopping excursions up to L L Bean and the outlets. Or forgo the hustle and bustle to curl by the fireplace and relax in the warmth, welcome, and winterscapes.

A winter non-holiday week can be enjoyed for $1200 for first timers, or $1080 for returning guests. Referral discounts and occasional specials are still available. Get in touch and schedule your winter getaway or oasis!

Summer Sun and Fun

Are we ever excited about this summer in Maine!

Our calendar is filling up as schools let out and families across the country plan their summer vacations. We're excited to host folks at our peaceful retreat from as far away as Portland, OR and to welcome back visitors from New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. In July the fireworks will be great as usual as a festive feeling fills the air. It's always nice to see Commercial Street downtown come alive with shoppers and sightseers exploring the waterfront and all southern Maine has to offer in the way of food, gifts, and unique experiences.

Turning the corner out of July and into August we can't wait for the annual Beach to Beacon 10k that brings over six thousand runners, wheelchair, and hand cycle competitors from New England and all over the world to Cape Elizabeth. The race course runs right along Old Ocean House Road, the main artery off which our beautiful home is located and it's always a thrill to cheer on the masses as they make their way through town to Portland Head Light.

Welcome to summer 2009! Don't wait another minute to join us in the fun- email to reserve our scenic home today.

Check Out The View!

...from the Portland Head Light Webcam.

Portland Head Light is the oldest lighthouse in Maine and one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. Its image has become virtually synonymous with the word "lighthouse." Literally. What most people don't realize is that Portland Headlight is actually in Cape Elizabeth! Located within Fort Williams, the Headlight is one of many reasons to visit this venerable historic park.

"Welcoming nearly a million visitors a year, it is not surprising to see people on any given day of the year enjoying the playing fields, tennis courts, beach, or simply walking around the park. During the winter months many find Fort Williams an ideal place to cross-country ski, sled, or even ice skate on the pond. Special events such as Family Fun Day, the Labor Day Art Show, and the Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race happen yearly, but it is the daily peacefulness of Maine's coastline that has made Fort Williams such a special place for so many generations to enjoy."
